What’s Been Going On So Far In 2015

Being in one place too long makes you lazy.  Just look at this blog.  I haven’t posted anything since December!  We’ve done stuff that is blog worthy, I just haven’t gotten around to actually blogging it!

Let’s get back on track with a quick review of what’s been going on so far this year.

We’ve taken trips…

Lacy and I took a trip to Joshua Tree National Park the beginning of February.  We were pleasantly surprised at how much we fell in love with the park.  We weren’t expecting much (it’s a desert, how much can you expect), but loved every minute of it there.  Well, maybe not EVERY minute.  Sunday morning I woke up, walked to the restroom, got really nauseous, came back to camp, and passed the F^$% out!  Turns out that I had some bug that was going around my office and it hit me at that moment.  I recovered quickly and was actually able to hike around a little bit and make the drive back home.  I did miss the next week of work though.  I WILL post a full blog post about Joshua Tree National Park next week.  I promise!

Mom and I took a quick trip up to Sacramento and back one day.  I had a test to take up there and we decided to go up a few hours early and check out downtown.  It was a beautiful day to wander downtown.  We walked through Capital Park and all around the surrounding neighborhoods.  I really like Downtown Sacramento.

Lacy and I also took a trip up to Sonora, Jamestown, and Columbia a couple of weeks ago, but we don’t have any pictures to show for it.  We walked thru the historic gold rush town of Columbia.  What a neat place!  It is a living gold rush town with everyone dressed in 1850’s attire.  After Columbia we went to Downtown Sonora and had lunch and walked around the shops there.  We learned that it was Second Saturday, which meant the shops stayed open late and there was art and musicians at selected shops to check out.  We made another trip around downtown to check out all the Second Saturday events and then headed home.  It was an awesome day in the mountains that made me want to move up there.

I also took a quick trip up to Modesto last weekend to see James Hunnicutt and The Hangdog Hearts perform at The Partisan.  I also got to see them again on Saturday when they came to Fresno to play.  You can never get enough of James or The Hangdog Hearts!

Other exciting news:

My best friend got married and had a baby!  These events are part of the reason that I came back to Fresno in the first place.  I needed to be here for the wedding and wanted to be here for the birth as well.

Congratulations Kathy and Tony!

I also bought a new car.  Well, a new to me car.  I still have the Ramblin’ Van as well, but we are looking to sell that one soon.

I think that catches everyone up for now!  I promise to get my Joshua Tree post up next week and I have some future blog posts planned as well.

I’m hoping to take a trip up to Yosemite and Mariposa this weekend and Lacy and I are hoping to plan a trip to Sequoia National Park soon too!

A Look Back at October and November

I completely spaced my October review so we are going to combine two months in this post.  Let’s see if I can remember everything that has happened the last couple of months!

Lets start off with an overview of jobs.

October started off with me rejoining the workforce.  I got a seasonal job with Bath and Body Works, but only worked a few shifts before I got offered a temporary job with Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program (CCROPP).  The CCROPP position only lasted two weeks, but by the time the assignment had ended I had landed a job with the Raisin Administrative Committee where I am their new Mail-room Coordinator.  Lacy is still waiting for her job at the IRS to start again for the season and in the meantime is working a seasonal position at Target and doing temp work.

Now, lets continue this post with pictures to show what’s been going on besides work!

I visited Oakhurst in October and got this great shot:

I was Spider-Man for Halloween at work.  This half-ass costume is brought to you by; getting rid of all of your belongings to travel and coming home with a Spider-Man hoodie that someone gave you.  10302214_10205167712178106_7712316589793790954_n

I went to Sacramento and stayed in my favorite hotel right by Capitol Park. 10406622_10205209423420861_9029021630219335831_n

I fell while walking in Downtown Fresno.  Luckily my face caught my fall!  It was just a scratch and a giant bump on my head, but I was fine.  I’m pretty sure I tripped over flat ground too.  1956933_10205268590059990_8616468709367468391_o

I had a housesitting job in November watching this cutie.  His name is Henry and he is the sweetest dog in the world.  November2014 005

Henry wants me to hurry up and finish with the pictures so we can play! November2014 012

I also had a birthday in November and made the decision to sell the Ramblin’ Van.  One has nothing to do with the other except for they both happened in November.  The Ramblin’ Van is not sold yet, but it hopefully will be soon.  That will be a post for another time though.

That should be it for October and November.  Bring on December!

A Look Back at September

September brought The Ramblin’ Sisters back together

September2014 126

We started the month off at Muddy Roots Music Festival.  After the festival was over we decided to head back to California.  On the way we stopped in Memphis, TN and visited Beale Street.

Our next stop was Deer, AR so we could cross a destination off our bucket list.  We decided to hike to Glory Hole Falls, which is located in the Ozark National Forrest, or as I liked to call it,  backwoods Arkansas.  We arrived at the trail head an hour before the sun was going down.  I’ll do a more detailed post on the whole hike, but just know that it is pretty terrifying to be hiking up a super steep hill at dusk in the middle of the woods in Arkansas.  It was also totally worth it.

Unfortunately all this pictures in the cave came out blurry.

The next day we stopped at the Cherokee Trading Post to see the buffalo.

We  then spent the night in Texas while we decided what we were going to do next.  We decided to head up to Four Corners and stand in four states at once.

In Utah we visited a really cool cave on the side of the road.  I will do a full post on MoQui Cave soon, but for now, here is a picture of the outside.

From there we visited Zion National Park.  We arrived at the park in the late afternoon so we decided to camp in the park and hike the next day.

September2014 104 September2014 125

We arrived home on the ranch the next day.  Lacy headed back to Fresno and I got settled into my new room.

September also took us on a quick day trip to Santa Cruz to see Slim Cessna Auto Club at the Crepe Place and it also found me a seasonal job at the mall.

I look forward to all the adventures October had in store for us!

Where was I in July?

It’s the last day of July so I figured I should look back at what I did this month.

I actually managed a lot in July. I started the month out finishing up a house sit in Asheville, NC. Completed a house sit in Sheet Harbor, Nova Soctia, and ended the month starting a new house sit in Stony Brook, NY.

On my way from Asheville to Sheet Harbor I stopped off in Pittsburgh, PA for a 4th of July BBQ and show. I got to see The Goddamn Gallows and Jayke Orvis and The Broken Band Play. It was a great 4th of July.

I am now back in the States and in New York. Most of August will be spent in New York, but the very last weekend (My favorite time of the year) will be spent in Tennessee for Muddy Roots Music Festival. The best part is, my sister will be joining me in Cookeville for Muddy Roots and to ramble around with me for a little bit. The Ramblin’ Sisters will be back together again and I’m very excited for that! Stay tuned for more adventures!

Florida Adventures (April in Review)

I know, I know, I have totally failed at this whole blogging thing for quite some time.  Between travels and spotty WiFi, I have a hard time keeping up with everything.

I am in a new marina in Fort Myers, Florida and have excellent WiFi so lets hope the posts are a little more frequent now.  (Fingers crossed!)

Let’s do an April recap to catch up on what I have been doing out here:

February Review

Well, February is over and that means it’s time to go to Florida!  But before I head off to Florida, let’s review this last month.

I participated in my first redditgifts exchange.  If you haven’t participated or don’t know what this is, go here.  I was excited to get signed up and participate in my first exchange, but wasn’t so excited about the categories.  I ended up picking the Dinosaur exchange and LOVED it! I had fun shopping for my gifts to give and the person who sent me gifts NAILED IT!  My person wanted something to decorate his living room, so I got him these:

And since I love to travel, the person who bought me gifts sent me these:

February2014 114

It was a super fun experience and I’m glad I decided to just jump in with the dinosaur exchange.  Sign ups for new exchanges are going on now and I have already signed up for Snacks!  I can’t wait.

I also got to be on the ranch for the 3rd baby calf to be born!  I got to see it just hours after it was born and watch it take a few wobbly steps as it got a feel for its legs.

February2014 178

We also sold my old car and Granny’s car this month, put new tires on the Ramblin’ Van so it was ready for the drive to Florida, and picked a move date.  This month was also filled with visits to friends, wedding shopping and lots of family time.

The last day of February brought a couple of things.  The first was LOTS of rain.  I took a short video of it at 6am this morning since it is kind of impossible to sleep in a RV being rocked by wind a rain.  Unfortunately, that video came out very dark and boring.  Here is a pretty picture of the rainy view later that afternoon instead.

And finally, I signed up to participate in 100happydays (click the image below to find out how you can participate too).  You can follow along with my 100 days of happy posts on my Instagram (there is a link in the right column).

February was a good month and now I am ready to see what March has in store for me.  I know the one thing it has in store is Florida!
